Is Night At The Museum: Secret of the Tomb Any Good?

One Last Night Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb - A quick film review by Nathan Brooks What you find with many film series at the moment is that, overtime, they get considerably worse. Night at the Museum is one of very few series that has managed to keep it's consistent quality, although admittedly it's never been an oscar contender to begin with. Ultimately, the Night at the Museum films have always been good for one thing; a fun time. Your life will not be changed, but you will find yourself leaving the cinema room smiling a little. But does the third one continue this tradition, or is it much worse (or better) than the previous two? What I Liked Going in, my expectations were pretty low. I'd recently seen another third film in a family comedy series and it was absolutely awful and at that time it was the worst film of 2014 (that was before I'd seen TMNT). Any guesses? Yep, it was Nativity 3. Oh dear. Fortunately, Night at the Museum 3 is just a...

Is Portal 2 Any Good?

The Cake is Still a Lie Portal 2 - A Pretty Late Video Game Review by Nathan Brooks As I was playing the first Portal I thought, "Man, this is great. Clever puzzles, ingenious gameplay, hilarious writing, how could it get an better?" Then I played Portal 2. Story The issue I had with the first Portal's story was it's simplicity. It was entertaining, but if it wasn't for GLaDOS and the excellent writing it could barely count as a story. Fortunately that's not a problem with Portal 2.  As well as telling the story of you, after you wake up in a stasis chamber after a long sleep and your return to Aperture Science, the game also tells the backstory of Aperture Science in a very clever way. GLaDOS, just after her revival. Good move. The main story first introduces you to new character Wheatley, a pretty much useless robot voiced brilliantly by Steven Merchant. He guides you through the facility, trying to help you escape, but eventually you ...

Is Portal Any Good?

The Cake is a Lie Portal - A Very Late Video Game Review by Nathan Brooks Most people my age don't really care for PC gaming. Every argument is "Which is better, XBox One or PS4?" (imagine I said that in a really dumb voice). Usually I complain about how much they neglect Nintendo, who are and probably forever will be my favourite video game company. However, PC gaming also deserves more recognition that it's getting from my age group, especially for Valve. Valve are basically the leading PC game producing company and they're pretty good at it as well. They're most well known for their Half-Life series of games, which I've never played, but have heard are very good. They're also very well know for the Portal series of video games. After recently completing the two games, I decided I wanted to do a two-part mini series on them. So here's part one. Story If you stripped this story down to it's bare bones you can barely even call it...
